Chocolate and Beer!

Ok, I'll be the first to admit I'm a big ol' food lover. I read cookbooks like novels, watch my favorite chef's on tv late into the night, and LOVE trying new things in the kitchen. But I've never been the wine & spirit connoisseur like others I know. But that has changed.

A while ago I came across information that Samuel Adams was releasing a special edition beer, Chocolate Bock. Now, I saw some the other day and picked it up and have to say, yum.

True, I like dark beers but stick mostly to ambers, not so much the stout's or bocks. But this. Yum. Not bitter, nice and creamy and did I say CHOCOLATE!

And, like that wasn't good enough - I found a recipe using that as part of the batter of french toast. Everybody now - YUM.

Snow makes people stupid

I love snow. I am a winter girl through and through. Give me a good blizzard any day of the week, and not just for the snow days. I love how it gets so quiet when it's snowing. I love making stew, and chili, and other yummy foods that simmer on the stove and make the house smell good. And I love making snow angels, and snowmen, and walking through pine trees covered in white.

But I have come to realize that snow makes people stupid - or at least stupid when they drive (I have nothing to say about other times). Besides the "leaving 18 inches of snow on the top of the car" which I have discussed, there's the "oh my gosh there's snow on the curb so I have to drive 5 mph" people. Or my favorite, the lady I saw today get in the lane on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD so she could make a left turn.

Ok, anyone who knows the Douglass/Rutgers campus may appreciate this more. The jughandle at New Gibbons - very obvious a double yellow line down the middle of the road. But obviously this person thought "hey, I need to make a left, so I'll go to the left of the road". And she sat at the red light, in the lane where traffic would be coming head on, and put on her blinker.

Is it wrong of me to wish there was a car coming from the Nicholas side of the intersection?

the ONLY reason I might not like snow

I said it last year, I'll say it again.

CLEAN OFF YOUR CARS!!!!

I am so tired of driving along highways and getting my winsheild hit by chunks of ice flying off the top of the car in front of me. If you're car is too tall for you to reach it with a stick, then get another car! Or find someone tall to reach it for you. Or get a broom!!!!!!!

I watched someone drive today with 15 inches of snow still on the top of their Honda, until a chunk about a foot big flew off and hit the car next to me. Can you please get a clue!

arrgggghhhhh - can you tell this gets my goat!

Who Knows Me

Well, thanks to all who took my quiz. I must apologize to those who may have gotten the "who I wanted to marry question" wrong. I should have been more clear. Growing up was a little misleading - yes, I was a MJF fan my entire life, but I was thinking of the plan that Erin and I had in high school, where I would marry him and she would be the mistress and we would live in a castle in London. But I guess when you turn 30, growing up still fits into high school in my mind.

Thanks all!

Does this make me crazy?

I don’t know if I crossed the line. I just received a new cd in the mail that I had ordered last week. It’s really good, kind of rockabilly with lead vocals that tickle me in the same place that Eric Clapton did when I first heard him. The thing that worries me – the reason I bought - it was the lead singer was a regular on Angel.

Yes, I am a big Buffy/Angel fan. And yes, I own both soundtracks; BTVS - The Album (cool) & Radio Sunnydale (great) as well as the score to the musical episode “Once More With Feeling” (fabulous). And yes, I even bought Anthony Steward Head’s debut cd (interesting) when it came out a few years ago.

Yes, I was led to this band through a tv show – would I have found them otherwise, probably not. But my decision to purchase the cd was based on the samples on the website, so is it any crazier than if someone had just referenced me to the band?

Ok, maybe I’ll just admit I have a problem. But I don’t care – I’m gonna keep on groovin’

Wasting Time

So, yesterday my beloved sister helped me fumble my beautiful laptop which actually caused some damage to the case. I decided to leave work early today to drop it off at Menlo for some fixin. Well, I guess everyone else had issues over the holidays because I am still awaiting my turn at the genuis bar - after 3 hours.

I know I am not truly a girl when I can't enjoy 3 hours in a mall.

I spent about 30 minutes shopping, then realized I had no money so I stopped.

I then sat at Barnes and Noble for an hour and a half, reading bride magazines (I even read Martha Stewart - help me).

I proceded to get bad mall food, and finally wandered back down to the apple store where I am still waiting - luckily I have internet access so I can blog.

And now, my feet are killing me because I'm still in work shoes, and I'm still waiting. Arrgggghhhh.
